C. Gisella Oppedisano, of Norwell, died suddenly Dec. 8 due to a major cardiac event. She was 59.
Ms. Oppedisano was executive assistant to Paul DiMaura of Hillside Management Company for more than 25 years. She was a graduate of Hull High School and attended Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, as well as Georgetown University. She had graduate studies at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, where she taught courses in elementary Italian. She was an accomplished linguist who spoke five languages.
She was also a realtor with the Jack Conway Company, and had recently earned the honor of top listing agent for the Norwell office.
Ms. Oppedisano had planned to be in Honduras in January for her third mission trip, being very involved in her charitable work for Mission Honduras through the First Baptist Church in Hingham. She served as co-treasurer for the organization, and contributed regularly to her other favorite charities, the American Indian Foundation and the Disabled Veterans of America. She loved God and country, and was a parishioner at St. Paul Parish in Hingham.
Ms. Oppedisano loved cooking and was known for feeding her boys and their friends, usually pancakes on Saturday morning, and a large pot of spaghetti and meatballs on Friday night. She had a lovely yard in which she took great pride, which showcased a variety of flowers and plants.
She will be remembered for her exuberant spirit, love of family, and love of all people.
Cherished fiancée of Alwyn Velasquez of Cambridge; beloved mother of Lucas P. Nigro and Alexander J. Nigro of Norwell, and devoted mother to stepchildren Katie Nigro and Paul Nigro, Jr. She was the sister of Maria Peraino of Hingham, and Joseph A. Oppedisano and his wife, Leticia McRae-Tarpley, of Florida; and the cherished aunt of Andrea Peraino of Vineyard Haven, John Peraino of Hingham, and Lucy McRae-Tarpley of Florida.
Services have been held. Burial was at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
