Obituary: Donna Cogliano

Donna Cogliano, 61
Donna Cogliano, of Scituate, passed away peacefully after a long struggle of multiple cancers and transplants on November 24 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham MA.  She was 61.
She was the beloved daughter of Teresa M. (DiVito) and the late Vincent A. Cogliano, of Hull; sister of Christine (Cogliano) Kinnally and husband Joseph; the late Vincent Cogliano and wife Joan (O’Sullivan); and Ann (Cogliano) Doherty and husband, Paul; loving Aunt of Michael Cogliano, Mia Cogliano, Marissa Kinnally, Megan Doherty, and Georgia Doherty.  She also leaves many supportive family and friends.
Donna was a 1976 graduate of Hull High School and graduated from Northeastern University in 1981 with a B.S. in Journalism.  She also competed as a Varsity Athlete in Field Hockey & Lacrosse.  She worked for various newspapers and ultimately as a sports writer for the Walpole Times in the 1980s.  In addition to various retail jobs, she spent the last 14 years as an elderly companion. 
Donna had many hobbies and interests over the years including summer softball, golf, tennis, walking, games, letter writing, creating her own greeting cards, playing Native American flutes, dancing, music, flying colorful kites with her nieces, nephew and many friends. She loved traveling to meet cousins in Italy, Australia, and throughout the United States.

Obituary: Katrina Marie Coffey

Katrina Marie Coffey, 30 
Katrina Marie (Lofgren) Coffey, of Millville, died unexpectedly on Nov. 20 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. She was 30.
Katrina was the loving wife of Stephen J. Coffey and the devoted mother of their treasured sons, Brayden, 9, and Owen, 5, and dog, Teddy Bear.
She is survived by her mother, Lynn Willis, and her husband William Jr., of Maynard, and her father, Steven Lofgren, and his wife, Karen, of Hull.
She was the dear sister of Ryan M. Lofgren and his wife, Samantha, of Abington; Tristan, Colby, and Charley Cate Lofgren, of Hull; Samantha Tebo, of New Mexico; and Brandon Tebo, of Florida. 
She was the loving aunt of Daniel, Adalyn, and Austin Lofgren and Nolan Tebo.
She also leaves her maternal grandparents, Eileen (Ryan) and Richard Mahan, of Onset; her great-great aunt, Irene Ryan, of Kingston; and her paternal grandparents, Valerie (DiGravio) and the late Donald Lofgren of Weymouth.  
She was the daughter-in-law of Pauline Charette, of Woonsocket, R.I.; and granddaughter-in-law of John and Rita Takessian, of Blackstone. She was also the daughter-in-law of William Coffey and his wife, Kathy, of Lincoln, R.I.; and the granddaughter-in-law of Evelyn Coffey, of Blackstone. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Justin Coffey, of Woonsocket, R.I., and his fiancé, Amanda Deguire. 
Other survivors include many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.   
Katrina was born on July 29, 1989, in Weymouth. She attended the Weymouth schools before moving and becoming a 2007 graduate of Tri-County Regional High School, Franklin, where she was an avid cheerleader.
She worked at Benchmark Senior Living in Franklin for the past two years as a lead CNA and med-tech. It was there that she was able to fulfill her passion of taking care of others. 
Katrina will be remembered for her outgoing and adventurous personality, her ability to light up a room with her smile, and her loud, infectious laugh.  She was a New England sports fan, but especially loved the Boston Bruins. Her passions also included music, cooking, nature walks, camping, and most importantly spending time with family and friends.   She had a true passion for living life to its fullest. She was a loving, caring soul who was cherished by many, and she will be deeply missed.
A memorial Mass was held on Thursday, Dec. 5, at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Franklin.

Mary E. Haggerty 
Mary E. (Tobin) Haggerty, of Hull and Cambridge, died on Nov. 24. 
She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel J. (“Don”) Haggerty and the loving mother of Marie Haggerty, of Tyngsboro; Donna Brady, of Hull; Carol Stout, of Cambridge; and Robert Haggerty, of Hull. She was the cherished grandmother of Maryette, Timothy, Brian, and Jake. She also leaves sons-in-law Billy Brady, Neal Stout, and Gary Perrault. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Tobin. 
Her funeral was from the Keefe Funeral Home in North Cambridge on Nov. 29 and was followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. John Church in Cambridge. Burial took place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Obituary: John F. McMorrow

John F. McMorrow, 78
John F. McMorrow died suddenly on Nov. 16 in Englewood, Fla. He was 78. 
Born in Boston, Jack grew up in West Roxbury and summered in Hull. He attended Boston Latin School and St. Sebastian’s School, class of 1959, and received a B.A./B.S. degree in finance from Boston College in 1963 and an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Jack’s corporate career included positions with RCA in Indiana, Polaroid in Boston, and Union Pacific Corp. in New York City. In midlife, he turned his skills to the nonprofit world of education, serving as CFO at the Council on Economic Education in New York City, the College of St. Joseph in Vermont, and St Mary’s Ryken in Maryland. In retirement, he continued his consulting work in financial and compliance for nonprofits and investment management.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sheila; his children, John McMorrow, Christine McMorrow, and Tyler McMorrow; his sister, Joanne, and brother-in-law, Joe Struzziery; his brother, Bill, and sister-in-law, Judy McMorrow; and his nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Joan McMorrow.
Jack was a good, kind man who thought of others above himself. He lived an honorable life strong in his faith, sense of responsibility, and love of his family, friends, and community. His dry sense of humor was his hallmark as he enjoyed checking in with everyone on his daily rounds and never missed the opportunity to make an amusing remark. He loved the warmth and greenery of Florida, was an eternal Boston sports fan, and became a model railroad enthusiast in the past few years. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, Dec. 12, 10:30-11 a.m., in St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated there at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.

Obituary: Sheila A. Russell

Sheila A. Russell, 77
Sheila A. Russell, retired nun and health-care records administrator with the Brockton VA Medical Center, died on Nov. 26 at the John Scott House in Braintree. She was 77.
Sheila graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in education and from Emmanuel College with an M.A. in pastoral counseling. She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Order of St. Catherine of Siena. As a nun, she taught and administered at the St. Francis Xavier School in Acushnet and the Dominican Academy in Fall River. She also worked as a rehabilitation aide and resident chaplain at Norwich State Hospital in Connecticut.
In 1985 she received her certificate of health information management from Northeastern University. She worked at the Brockton VA and the Jamaica Plain VA in medical records until her retirement this year. She enjoyed traveling and singing.
Born on Dec. 13, 1941, Sheila was the daughter of the late James F. and Ruth (Nazer) Russell. She is survived by her siblings Ruth Russell Lanza, of Schwenksville, Pa; Patricia A. Russell, of Hull; and James M. Russell (Sharron), of Kingston. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull. Friends and family are invited.

Lorraine Tesorero, of Hull and formerly of Scituate, died on Nov. 23 2019 after a long battle with cancer. She was 59.
The devoted daughter of Bettylou Tesorero and the late Lawrence Tesorero, of Scituate, she was the loving mother of Peter O’Neill, of New Hampshire, and Justin O’Neill, of Hull. She was the dear sister of Pauline Tesorero, of Hull, and the cherished grandmother of Tyler, Maddex, and Kayden. Ms. Tesorero is also survived by her niece Melissa McNamara and nephew Michael McNamara, both of Hull.

Jay Savage of Hull, MA, entered into rest on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the age of 81.
Born in Lynn, MA, he was the dear son of the late Bernard and Ida (Kligman) Savage. Beloved husband of Phyllis C. (McGowan) Savage. Devoted father of Brenda Capel, Mark Savage and his wife Martha, and Gary Savage and his wife Jessica. Yvette (Goodfader) Feinstein, of Canton and formerly of Hull, died on Nov. 22. She was 96. 
The devoted daughter of the late Aaron (“Ziggy”) and Anna (“Chancha”) (Stern) Goodfader, she was the beloved wife of the late David Feinstein and loving mother of Paula Manburg and her husband, William, of Stoughton. She was the cherished grandmother of Sarah Manburg and Lauren Nicastro and great-grandmother of David and Sam Nicastro.
She was the dear sister of the late Samuel Goodfader and his surviving wife, Muriel; she is also survived by nieces Emily and Meryl and nephew Joel and his wife. Marlene. Graveside services were held at Moses Mendelsohn Cemetery at Lindwood Memorial Park in Randolph on Nov. 25. Memorial observances were held at Orchard Cove in Canton immediately following the burial and later that evening at the home of Paula and William Manburg.

Fred W. Hermanson Jr., of Haverhill and formerly of Hingham, died on Nov. 15. He was 88. 
He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline M. (Goedecke) Hemanson. He is survived by his loving companion, Betty Kohl, of Haverhill. 
Fred was the beloved father of Christy Bacon and her companion, William Spencer, of Davenport, Fla.; Fred W. Hermanson III and his wife, Maria, of Westfield; Amy F. Rabinovitz and her husband, Steven, of Abington; Caroline L. Haley and her companion, Scott Boyd, of Weymouth; and Robert J. Hermanson, of Maine. He was the brother of Robert Hermanson, of Weymouth; Louis Hermanson, of Florida; Marie Gonsalves, of Florida; and the late Louise Callahan. 
Fred will also be remembered lovingly by 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Fred was born in Quincy, the son of the late Fred W. Hermanson Sr. and Edmea (Quintiliani). He was raised in Quincy and later moved to Hingham; for the past 10 years he lived in Haverhill. He worked for many years at Eastern Engineering Manufacturers Co.

Paraskevas G. (“Bill”) Barkas, of Hull, died on Nov. 13. He was 91.
The loving husband of Paraskevi (“Phyllis”) (Konstandis) Barkas for 61 years, he was the devoted father of George and his wife, Maria, of Hull, and James and his wife, Betsy, of Hull. 
He was the cherished Papou of Jamie, Mackenzie and her husband, Andrew, Mattison, and Alexander and the adoring great-grandfather of Mason, Dimitri, and Mila. He is also survived by his nephew, David Fournarakis and his wife, Kathy.
His funeral services were held on Nov. 19 at the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church in Cohasset. Burial followed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Deborah Ann “Debbie” Doyle-Scully of Duxbury, formerly a longtime Hull resident died unexpectedly on November 11, 2019. 
The beloved mother of Kristen M. Scully and Robert P. Scully, Jr. of Hull.  Daughter of the late Arthur and Marilyn (Mee) Doyle of Hull. Loving sister of Ellen Laramee and her husband Ron of Plymouth and the late Gerry Doyle of Hull.  Cherished NeeNee of Blaise Belmarsh.  Best friend and dear companion to Bob Saville of Hull. Loving aunt of Jen & Joe Gately of W. Bridgewater, Jason & Kelly Laramee of Harwich, Kaitlyn & Ricky Mullen of Hopkington, Shaun & Kristi Doyle of Hanson, Katie & Nick Mercauto of North Conway.  She is also survived and loved by many grand nieces and nephews. 
Debbie was raised and educated in Hull and graduated from Hull High School in 1969, where she was notably the first “Hull High Pirate.” 
A single mother of two, she raised her children in Hull. She always worked multiple jobs to support her children. For over a decade, Debbie worked as a concierge in the maternity unit at South Shore Hospital, where she always greeted people with a smile and a joke!  She also worked for many years as a teacher’s assistant at South Shore Collaborative and in the Hull school system. Debbie brought humor to all her patrons when she worked at Schooner’s in Hull and the Old Mill Grill in Hingham.  
Deborah was politically active and served on the Hull School Committee for nine years and found time to teach CCD at St. Ann’s Church.  Always willing to help anyone in need, she will be remembered as someone who was funny, loving, selfless, and kind.
Her greatest pleasure was being with her family and her wonderful circle of friends.
Debbie was personally engaging and shared her great sense of humor with everyone she met.  She will be sadly missed by her family and numerous lifelong friends.

Carol Levine, of Hull, died on Oct. 26. She was 76. 
The devoted daughter of the late Isadore and Annette (Sherman) Yackolow, she was the beloved wife of the late Sheldon Levine. She was loving mother to Sindye Tonole and her fiancé, Peter Susi, of Johnston, R.I.; and Adam Levine and his wife, Lori, of Cranston, R.I. She was the cherished grandmother of Melissa and Jay Boney, Alex Tonole, and Andrew Levine and great-grandmother of Aiden Boney. She was the dear sister of Mark Yackolow, of Hull, and Donna Damon, of Florida. 
Services were held at the Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill in Canton on Oct. 29. Interment followed at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon.

Obituary: Mary Ann (Cavanaugh) Putnam

Mary Ann (Cavanaugh) Putnam, 60 
Mary Ann (Cavanaugh) Putnam, of Hull and formerly of West Springfield, died on Oct. 26. She was 60 
A loving and proud mother of four, grandmother of eight, and an adored daughter, sister, and friend, Mary was born in Springfield to Leah (McCarthy) Cavanaugh, of West Springfield, and John Cavanaugh, since deceased. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University. 
For more than 35 years, Mary had a long and fulfilling career as a physical therapist, starting at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital neonatal unit, working as an in-home therapist throughout the South Shore for NVNA and EI, and ending her career in Boston at Comeback Physical Therapy. 
The greatest joys in her life came from time spent with her family and friends. Her most cherished times were spent at the beach with her grandchildren, playing in the sand, swimming, and riding boogie boards. She was an exceptionally talented artist, with a passion for the arts, and had a gift to see the beauty in all things; it has left a lasting impact on all those whom she knew. 
Mary was the devoted mother of Leah M. Putnam, of Hull; Lauren A. Rossi and her husband, Nicholas, of Marshfield; Nicholas E. Putnam, of Weymouth; and Grace S. Putnam and her partner, Devin Whelan, of Hull. She was the proud grandmother of Lily and Hailey Putnam Resnick and Faith, Scarlett and Eleanor Reilly, all of Hull; Kylie and Michael Rossi, of Marshfield; and Harper Whelan, of Hull.  
She was the sister of Joanne Ruppen, of West Springfield and New Mexico, and her late husband, James; Lee Ann Powell; Patricia Ilacqua and her husband, Christopher, of Charlton; Elizabeth Cote and her husband, John, of Southwick; and Margaret Cavanaugh, of West Springfield. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 
The family wishes to extend special thanks to everyone at Pat Roche Hospice Home for their compassionate care in Mary’s final days.

Obituary: Joanne Louise (Rudderham) Regan

Joanne Louise (Rudderham) Regan, 71
Joanne Louise (Rudderham) Regan died on Oct. 20 after a seven-year struggle with dementia. She was 71.
Born on Feb. 16, 1948, in Weymouth, she spent the first 20 years of her life in Hull. She graduated from Hull High School, where she was a member of the marching band, in 1966 and, in that same year, met her husband-to-be, Ron. She was married on Sept. 7, 1968, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hull. 
Joanne’s grandfather was a real estate agent in Hull in the early 1900s, and her father had been with the Hull Fire Department. 
Joanne and her family moved to Texas in 1977, but she never lost her love for this town. Every couple of years, she and her family would make the long drive from Texas to spend two weeks at her father’s house on top of Strawberry Hill. After her father died and the children had moved on, she and her husband would fly up to visit in Hull with longtime friends and spend many hours at Nantasket Beach, riding the carousel and just enjoying being home again. 
Joanne made her last trip to Hull in October 2018. It was a place she always loved and never forgot. 

Obituary: George W. Eaton, Jr.

George W. Eaton, Jr., 78
George W. Eaton Jr., a 46-year-resident of Hingham, passed after a rapid decline from Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia, at the Pat Roche Hospice Home, October 22 at the age of 78. 
Born to George W. Eaton Sr. and Ethel Breen Eaton in Cohasset, George was a graduate of Hull High School and remained local his entire life. As a crane operator and proud member of the Crane Operator’s Union, Local 4, for over 49 years, George built seawalls and jetties along the coast from New Hampshire to Maryland.
George is survived by his beloved wife Julia N. (Palmer) Eaton, his loving children Marsha Eaton of Plymouth, and George W. Eaton III of Plymouth. He was predeceased by his sister E. Ann Eaton.
Services have been held, and burial will take place at a later date at the Hull Village Cemetery.

Obituary: Phyllis J. Gardner

Phyllis J. Gardner, 93 
Phyllis J. Gardner, of Hull, died on Aug. 17. She was 93.
In September 1958, Joyce, as she was known, married Alan L. Gardner (Hull Fire Department), whom she described as the love of her life. After retirement, their home was in Florida, but they spent much of their time traveling, with cruising being a favorite mode of travel. They were together for 45 years until Alan died in November 2003. Upon his passing, Joyce returned to her beloved, adopted town of Hull.
Joyce was born in Shrewsbury, England, Andrew and Marion (Smith) Gittins. She is survived by her loving nephew, Christopher Mark Brown, and his wife, Sandra, of Bristol England; her son, Mark Hurley, of Spokane, Wash.; and her conservator, Robert Hollingshead. She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Nettles, of Syria, Va.
As a child, Joyce was a competitive swimmer, winning many awards in England. She continued with her love of swimming throughout her life, and that made Nantasket Beach the perfect home. 
She spent her career as a bookkeeper at the Boston Motel in Weymouth, combining her love of people and numbers. She lived her final years at the LifeCare Center in Scituate, where she loved telling stories of her childhood in England, as well as her life during World War II, to her caretakers and visitors. Joyce made friends easily, was a good listener, and will be missed by all who spent time with her.
A graveside service was held at the Hull Village Cemetery on Oct. 21.

William Parker Miller, 89
Former harbormaster William Parker Miller has died at the age of 89.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1929, in Boston to Lloyd Parker Miller and Ruth Olsen Miller and was raised in Hull with his three sisters Helen (Loraine), Lilian, and Ann, who all predeceased him. 
Space was limited in the family home during the Great Depression, and, because Loraine was an older half-sister, she moved in with an uncle and aunt, leaving the rest of the family to dwell in the crowded add-on rooms at the family business, an auto repair shop at the corner of U Street and Nantasket Avenue. In the early 1940s, the family moved to K Street, although they rented out that house each summer and moved back into the shop. 
The family business morphed into a boat business (Miller’s Marina), and William ran that business with his father and took over after his dad retired. He also worked as an electrician and mechanic at General Dynamics in Quincy and at various marinas along the South Shore. He was an electrician for Amtrak and retired in the 1990s. 
William, who served as harbormaster for Hull after his father’s tenure, had attended school in Hull until he was of high school age; at that time, Hull students went to Hingham High because Hull did not yet have a high school. 
At age 17, he joined the Naval Reserve through his high school. He remained in the Navy, achieving a CPO E7 Status, varying between reservist and active full-time until 1984 when he was piped off into naval retirement on the U.S.S. Constitution. He served actively in Europe during the Berlin Wall crisis of 1961-1962. 
William married Katherine A. Miller in 1960. They had one son, Robert P. Miller, and he adopted Katherine’s daughter, Lori Ann. The family resided in Hull from 1960 until a move to Marshfield in 1973. That year the family joined the Marshfield First Congregational Church. His previous church was the Hull Methodist in Hull Village. 
Ever an avid dancer, William took to country music. He also had a love for photography and was a photographer for the Massachusetts Country Music Awards Association in the 1990s and beyond. 
A lifelong Mason since 1953, William was a member of many Masonic orders and chapters on the South Shore, including the Konohasset Lodge, the Daniel Webster Lodge, and the Weymouth Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed attending dinners and meetings into the fall of this year. His photographic skills went to great use within his many Masonic groups. 
His wife of 38 years, Katherine Miller died in 1998. William leaves behind his son, Robert P. Miller and his wife, Sally Smart Miller; their daughter, Katherine Anne Miller; and his daughter, Lori Ann Morse; all reside in Connecticut. He is also survived by his godson and nephew, David P Willis, and nephews Richard C. Willis Jr., Gary J. Willis, John Simons, Bruce Simons, and William Simons and their spouses. 
Visiting hours will be on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9-11 a.m., at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Marshfield, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial and military honors in the Couch Cemetery.

Obituary: William H. Parker

William H. Parker, 96 
William (“Bill”) H. Parker, of Hull, a retired Hull teacher and proud World War II U.S  Army veteran, died on Oct. 15 at Season’s Hospice in Milton. He was 96.
The beloved husband of the late Jean I. (Paterson) Parker, Mr. Parker is survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends, neighbors, and fellow Hullonians. Hull residents will miss seeing him in the lobby at Nantascot Place, where he had lived since 1998 after moving from Ocean Place condominiums, where he had lived since 1991 and had served on the board of trustees.
Born and raised in Rockland, where he served as an usher at the Holy Family Church for 30 years, Mr. Parker graduated from Rockland High School in 1940 and attended Fitchburg State Teachers College for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Army. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Fifth Army in Africa and Italy. A recipient of the Bronze Star, he was a member of the Abington Veterans of Foreign Wars. 
Mr. Parker resumed his education after the war and received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1947. He began his teaching career in Barre, where he taught for three years before taking a position in Hull, where he taught for 32 years. During that time, he also worked in several capacities for The Hull-Nantasket Times. He was a former president of the Hull Teachers Association, an organization he actively supported until his retirement. 
The beloved husband of the late Jean I. (Patterson) Parker, Mr. Parker was the son of the late William N. and Mary A. (Healy) Parker and brother of the late Richard (“Dick”) Parker. He was uncle to Carla Spaulding, Kathleen Hanson, and Andrew, Michael, and Hugh Norris and the cousin of Jackie Kenney. Dear friend of Elaine Howland, of Hanson, he is also survived by many other close friends. Services have been held.

Obituary: Marie F. Richard

Marie F. Richard, 86
Marie F. (Concannon) Richard, of Kingston, formerly of Hull, died on Oct. 17. She was 86. 
A devout Catholic, Marie and her husband, John, lived in Hull for many years and it was the town where they raised five children. She cherished all the wonderful times she spent with her loving family. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her. 
Beloved wife of the late John F. Richard, Marie was the loving mother of Joanne Prusik and her wife, Francine Denisi, of Abington; Joe Richard and his wife, Annemarie Venetta Richard, of Westford; Jack Richard and his wife, Renee, of Pembroke; Jim Richard, of Norwell; and Jerry Richard and his wife, Cyndy, of Hopkinton. 
She was cherished Nana to Lindsay, Patrick, Brittany, Caroline, Kyle, Gracie, Payton, Jordyn, and Jacqueline and great-Nana to Alexis. She was the sister of Richard Concannon, of North Carolina, and the late Louise Jones. 
Services have been held. Burial followed in Hull Village Cemetery.
