Obituary: Sheila A. Russell

Sheila A. Russell, 77
Sheila A. Russell, retired nun and health-care records administrator with the Brockton VA Medical Center, died on Nov. 26 at the John Scott House in Braintree. She was 77.
Sheila graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in education and from Emmanuel College with an M.A. in pastoral counseling. She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Order of St. Catherine of Siena. As a nun, she taught and administered at the St. Francis Xavier School in Acushnet and the Dominican Academy in Fall River. She also worked as a rehabilitation aide and resident chaplain at Norwich State Hospital in Connecticut.
In 1985 she received her certificate of health information management from Northeastern University. She worked at the Brockton VA and the Jamaica Plain VA in medical records until her retirement this year. She enjoyed traveling and singing.
Born on Dec. 13, 1941, Sheila was the daughter of the late James F. and Ruth (Nazer) Russell. She is survived by her siblings Ruth Russell Lanza, of Schwenksville, Pa; Patricia A. Russell, of Hull; and James M. Russell (Sharron), of Kingston. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull. Friends and family are invited.
