Beloved wife of the late Louis I. Rosenbaum; cherished daughter of the late Julius and Jennie (Greenberg) Glassman; devoted mother of the late David and George Rosenbaum; dear sister of Sylvia Izen and the late Elliot Glassman, Eddie Glassman, Simon “Sy” Glassman, and Rebekah “Becky” Lampel; Mrs. Rosenbaum was the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Obituary: Douglas A. McDonald

Douglas A. McDonald, at 66

Douglas A. McDonald, age 66, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 22.

Mr. McDonald served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a longstanding member of the VFW and Weymouth Knights of Columbus. For many years, he was a lineman for Verizon. The ocean, gardening, music, his love for animals, and time with his family gave joy to his life.

The Ronald McDonald Foundation and the Special Olympics were dear to his heart because, throughout his life, Mr. McDonald supported anyone in need with his loving and devoted ways.

Beloved husband of Nancy McDonald; loving son of Barbara A. Brownell and the late Robert E. Brownell; loving father of Scott McDonald and his wife, Mariel, of Kingston, Lisa A. Pedersen and her husband, Bill, and Carly Phalen and her husband, Mike, all of Whitman, Steven McDonald of Boston, Kerri Dinunno and her husband, Nino, of Cohasset, and James McDonald of Hull. Mr. McDonald also was the devoted “Papa” of 11. The loving brother of Sharon L. Adkins and her husband, Gary, of California, and Carlene E. Brown and her husband, Peter, of Weymouth; he also is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Obituary: Alfred T. Bousquet

Alfred T. Bousquet, at 81

Alfred T. Bousquet, 81, died at South Shore Hospital on July 21.

Mr. Bousquet was born in Salem, and served in the Navy on the USS Block Island. For his service, he earned the National Defense and European Occupation Service medals. He worked for the Hingham Tree & Park Department, as an auto mechanic for Saab, and retired as a machinist from Boston Gear Works.

Mr. Bousquet was a former 24-year resident of Hull and a current resident of Indian Harbour Beach, FL. After retirement, he and his wife spent their summers with family in Hull.

Mr. Bousquet loved playing softball and horseshoes, candlepin bowling, doing jigsaw puzzles, and having family adventures. He was quick with a joke and his proudest achievement was that, at 81 years old, he was still playing softball!

He is survived and will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Pat; and by their seven children: Patty, Brenda, Tom, Bob, Terry, Cindy, and Chris. He will also be missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His closest siblings are Alice, Louise, Shirley, Louis (his identical twin), and Bobby. He touched the lives of many with his warm heart and welcoming way; he will be missed by too many to list here.

There will be a family-only memorial service on July 29. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you perform a random act of kindness.

Obituary: John D. MacInnis

John D. MacInnis, at 92

John D. MacInnis died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on June 27. He had suffered a very brief illness, and was 92.

During World War II, he served in the 101st Airborne Division, notably during the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of Bastogne, Belgium. A recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, Mr. MacInnis was his family’s American hero and one of the “greatest generation.”

His proudest accomplishment was his loving family. A kind and loving man, a father figure to many, his Catholic faith grounded him and he lived it out beautifully, modeling the importance of faith and family. Mr. MacInnis had a love of the ocean and appreciated all of nature, especially the beauty of New England. He retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Water Division.

Beloved husband of the late Adele [Ungemach] MacInnis; loving father of Mary Rose Ericsson and her husband, Kenneth, of Hingham, Jean Sullivan and her husband, Peter, of Scituate, John MacInnis and his partner, Michelle Benoit, of Plainville, and Rev. Michael MacInnis, OFM, of Boston. He was the cherished brother of Murray MacInnis of Quincy, and the late Mary Rita Lermond, Marie Emery, Neil MacInnis, and Robert MacInnis; devoted Papa of Cody and Molly Sullivan and J.D. and Amanda MacInnis; and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, 4-8 p.m., in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Friday prior to the funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the national cemetery at Bourne at 1:45 p.m.

Obituary: Richard A. Miller

Richard A. Miller. Jr., at 62

Hull Light Plant Operations Manager Richard “Dick” A. Miller, Jr. died June 24, after a long illness. He was 62.

Mr. Miller grew up in Weymouth and Hull. He worked as a journeyman lineman for Local #104, IBEW, and more recently as the Hull Municipal Light Plant operations manager.

An avid reader, he also enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, woodworking, music, and golf. He cherished his family and nothing was more important in his life than his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his strong work ethic, and for always being the champion for the underdog. He was a friend of Bill W. 

The beloved husband of Michele [Devlin] Miller of Hull; loving father of Julie Morris and her husband, Kevin, of Barrington, N.H., Jeanne Miller and her companion, Michael Silva, of Hull, Kevin Miller and his wife, Kerri, of Hull, Kathryn Miller and her companion, Richard Minichello, of Everett; he was the stepfather of Jennifer Minghella of Hull. Mr. Miller also leaves his siblings: John Miller of Hanover, Carol Walsh of Wareham, Deborah Casey of Cohasset, Jeffery Miller of Whitman, Daniel Miller of Maine, and Donna Cotoulas of Hull; an aunt, Carol Rennie of Weymouth; and a dear friend, Kathy Doyle Tilden of Weymouth. He was the cherished grandfather of Cassidy, Arieanna, Annabelle, Julia, Emmett, Joshua, Caroline, Christian, Chase, and Richard Isaac. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Miller’s funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today [Thursday] at St. John the Evangelist Church, Hingham. His burial will follow, at Hull Village Cemetery.

Obituary: Patricia A. Anastos

Patricia A. Anastos, at 86

Patricia A. [Wallace] Anastos, of Hull, died peacefully in her sleep June 17, at Harbor House in Hingham. She was 86.

Along with her late husband, Ernie, Mrs. Anastos had been an integral part of life on the South Shore for more than 70 years. They raised their three children in Hingham and brought warmth and character to two of Nantasket Beach’s most popular businesses – their own Anastos Variety and Hardware, and Jake’s Seafood, where she served as the restaurant’s hostess for more than a decade.
Mrs. Anastos was born in Floral Park, N.Y., the oldest of three children of Walter and Marguerite (Smith) Wallace. She was 12 when the family moved to Hull.

At Hingham High School, she excelled in choir, dance, cheerleading, and boys. After graduating in 1948, Mrs. Anastos worked for the New England Telephone Co. and helped out at a rooming house in Hull owned by the Anastos family. It was here that she met Ernie, a Navy officer home from the war.

She wed the love of her life on New Year’s Eve in 1948, and remained happily married to him until his death in 2003. The couple made their home in Hingham with their children, Ernie Jr., Janice Marie, and Cheryl Ann (Sheri). Mrs. Anastos loved to entertain friends and family in their Summer Street home. She enjoyed traveling with Ernie and the kids; each year the family spent a month visiting Ernie’s parents in Miami.

Over the years, she often worked alongside him at the family hardware store. She is best remembered, however, as the “hostess with the mostest” at Jake’s.

“She got to know the whole community there,” said Dennis Zaia, a longtime family friend. “She was the most gracious and welcoming presence. Sparkling, bubbling, effervescent, and always gracious. Jake’s was a welcoming environment for people – and she created that.”

In retirement, Pat and Ernie moved to Allerton Hill, where she lived for the past 22 years. After many years as a homemaker making perfect meals to be served every night at 6:15 for her family, she finally reached a time in her life where the only thing she enjoyed making for dinner was a reservation. She fell ill only recently, and was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) early this year.

Loving mother of Ernie Anastos of San Diego, Janice Ryan and her husband, Darryl, and Sheri Anastos and her partner, Mary Ann Ingaciola, all of Hull; dear grandmother (YaYa) of Théo Anastos of San Diego; beloved sister of Bill Wallace of Hingham; she is also survived by and will be greatly missed by many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Obituary: Robert S. Thorne

Robert S. Thorne, at 63

Robert S. Thorne of Hull, 63, died peacefully on June 8, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Thorne was born in Weymouth and raised in Hingham. After graduating Hingham High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard. During his later years, he worked at Weymouth Honda, where he earned multiple titles for number one sales associate and was one of 33 Honda sales consultants nationwide to be apart of the Honda Council of Sales Leadership Program.

He truly loved and enjoyed all sports, but golf and baseball were his favorites. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his strong work ethic, and his devotion to his family. He was one of a kind and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The beloved husband of 44 years of Mary Lou [Morano] Thorne of Hull; loving father of Stephanie Thorne-Connolly and her husband, Bryan, and Melissa Thorne, all of Hull. He was the brother of Budd K. Thorne Jr., Gail Leander, and Bruce Thorne; proud, loving Papa of Brenden, Lucas, and Gianna. Mr. Thorne also is survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

Sandra A. MacInnis, at 56

Lifelong Hull resident Sandra A. [Polin] MacInnis died at South Shore Hospital June 13, after a brief illness. She was 56.

Mrs. MacInnis was a 1978 Hull High School graduate. She worked for the Bargain Center in Quincy before it closed and then worked for Old Home Donut and Dunkin Donuts. She spent many years lovingly caring for her elderly parents before their deaths.

Mrs. MacInnis was a great fan of “General Hospital” and enjoyed watching Red Sox games with her husband, Howard, who survives her.

Mrs. MacInnis was cremated. A celebration of her life will take place Friday after 5 p.m. at her late residence: 59-1/2 B Street. Memorial donations to defray funeral expenses may be sent to Howard MacInnis at that address.

Frank H. Badger, at 80

Frank H. Badger, 80, died at home June 3, in Holiday, Florida.
He was born in Stoneham and moved to Hull in 1978, where he lived for 22 years, then onto Florida for the last 16 years. Mr. Badger enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Loretta Badger; his son, Frank J. Badger, daughter April Parks, daughter Susan Daggett, daughter Stacy Scabin, son Preston Badger; and sisters JoAnne Woodward and Marie O'Leary.  Mr. Badger also is survived by several grandchildren: Frank Jr., Codie, Steven, Jayson, and Tyler. He was the brother of the late Roy Nelson.

Robert P. Scully, of Hull, formerly of Dorchester and Cohasset, died May 30. He was 75.

Devoted father of Kathleen M. Gilbrook, Michelle A. Scully and Kristen M. Scully, all of Hull, and Robert P. Scully, Jr. of Quincy; brother of Jerome P. Scully and his wife, the late Madeline Scully, of Norwell, Dorothy Remondi and her husband, John, of Boston, Albert Scully and his wife, Gail, of Cape Cod, and the late Donald Scully; he was the grandfather of Katlyn M. Gilbrook, Colleen M. Gilbrook, Brendan W. Gilbrook, Patrick J. Gilbrook, and Blaise R. Belmarsh; and the great grandfather of Christian W. Gilbrook.

Obituary: Mary Lou Walsh

Mary Lou Walsh, at 78

Mary Lou [McDonald Slattery] Walsh died Jan. 27 at the age of 78. She loved to travel and was a lifetime member of Hull Yacht Club.

She is survived by her four children and three stepchildren: John  Slattery,  Robert  Slattery,  Susan  Ribeiro,  William Slattery,  Jeffrey Walsh,  Richard Walsh, and Alison Sebastian. Mrs. Walsh also leaves 11 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by husbands Donald Slattery and Richard Walsh, and one grandson, Brendan Walsh. She was the devoted sister of Donald McDonald, John McDonald, Dorothea Rogers, and the late Daniel McDonald and Kathleen Nash.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave. Burial at Hull Village Cemetery will follow.

Obituary: Michael D. Quinn

Michael D. Quinn, at 61

Michael “Quinny” D. Quinn, a longtime resident of Hull, died suddenly May 15. He was 61.
Mr. Quinn grew up in Groton, NY and graduated from Groton High School in 1972. He moved to Boston in 1974 with a group of Grateful Dead-loving buddies from his hometown.
He was a talented singer and musician, playing guitar and harmonica. He was a member of various bands that played in and around Boston. Most people would often hear Mr. Quinn’s signature whistle long before he came into view. He was an avid fisherman, who told outrageous fishing tales to anyone who would believe him. His incredibly quick wit will be sorely missed; he could make anyone laugh out loud with one of his usually inappropriate one-liners.
Mr. Quinn was an employee at Boston University’s Mugar Library for more than 30 years. One of his proudest moments was watching his twin daughters graduate from BU in 2009.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy Donovan Quinn; his daughters, Caitlin Quinn Dunn and her husband, Joe, and Cassidy Quinn Bilodeau and her husband, Matt, of Hull. He also leaves his grandson, Owen Bilodeau, of Hull; sisters Sally Quinn Farrell of Groton, NY and Mary Quinn Vella and her husband, Tony Famiglietti, of Trumansburg, NY, as well as many extended family members.
His memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club, 3 Fitzpatrick Way. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hull High School with “Music Award” in the memo line. James R. Tobin, at 90

James R. Tobin, a longtime Hull resident, died peacefully May 8, at the Life Care Center in Scituate. He was 90.

Mr. Tobin was a World War II veteran and used to love puttering around his home.
Mr. Tobin’s wife, Marie, died in February. He leaves eight children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Obituary: Walter Labonte

Walter Labonte, at 70

Walter Labonte, age 70, passed away peacefully at home in Pennsylvania on May 6, after bravely battling a long illness.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Labonte taught English at Hull High, Quincy College, and Northeastern University for many years in Massachusetts before moving to Pennsylvania. He taught the subject for many years at Lebanon Valley College, where he also directed the Writing Center and student peer tutor program.

Mr. Labonte was passionate about writing the most with the fewest number of words. He authored the Jason Snow mystery series and co-authored the musical “Mindsets.”

He is survived by his loving wife, Paula; brother- and sister-in-law Richard and Cathy Stevens of East Weymouth; and loving nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

Dorothy F. Hersch, at 83

Dorothy Frances [Philpin] Giovannucci Hersch died May 7. She was 83.

Mrs. Hersch was a homemaker and, in her later years, was a real estate agent. She loved Hull and lived here her entire life. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

Daughter of the late William and Margaret Philpin; she was predeceased by her husbands, William D. Giovannucci and Leonard Hersch; and by a son, William D. Giovannucci Jr.

She is survived by her children, Ellen Giovannucci Saley and her husband, Edwin, of New Hampshire, and Scott A. Giovannucci of Hull; two brothers, John A. Philpin of Vermont and his wife, Jane, and Robert James Cronin-Philpin of Boston. Mrs. Hersch also leaves her grandchildren, Matt Giovannucci and his wife, Stephanie, Geodaniel Nickerson, Earl Saley; stepgrandchildren Timothy Saley and Holly Dyment; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Frederic K. Frazier died May 9, at 80.

Mr. Frazier worked for New England Telephone for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors, but nothing was more important than his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather. Mr. Frazier will be sadly missed.

Stanley “Stush” Frank of Hull, formerly of Norwood, entered into rest May 9. He was 78.

Beloved husband of Jean [Freedman] Frank; devoted father of Michael Frank and his wife, Amy, Marcy Kravet and her husband, Jeremy, and Scott Frank and his wife, Abbie Statsky-Frank; loving brother of Gordon Frank and his wife, Mimi. Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon, at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., Canton. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

Adrienne Wisehart, at 65

Adrienne [Wight] Wisehart, 65, of Hull, died peacefully April 28, after a brief illness.

She is survived by two children, Suzanne Wisehart of Hull and Thomas Wisehart Jr. of Weymouth; a daughter in law, Kristen Wisehart; a stepson, Mark Towne of Brockton; a sister Suzanne Albert and her husband, Robert, of Syracuse; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Wisehart will be deeply missed. A special thank you to Hospice of the South Shore nurses.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 7, at Community Baptist Church, 17 Mutton Lane, East Weymouth, from 1-4 p.m.
