Douglas A. McDonald, age 66, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 22.
Mr. McDonald served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a longstanding member of the VFW and Weymouth Knights of Columbus. For many years, he was a lineman for Verizon. The ocean, gardening, music, his love for animals, and time with his family gave joy to his life.
The Ronald McDonald Foundation and the Special Olympics were dear to his heart because, throughout his life, Mr. McDonald supported anyone in need with his loving and devoted ways.
Beloved husband of Nancy McDonald; loving son of Barbara A. Brownell and the late Robert E. Brownell; loving father of Scott McDonald and his wife, Mariel, of Kingston, Lisa A. Pedersen and her husband, Bill, and Carly Phalen and her husband, Mike, all of Whitman, Steven McDonald of Boston, Kerri Dinunno and her husband, Nino, of Cohasset, and James McDonald of Hull. Mr. McDonald also was the devoted “Papa” of 11. The loving brother of Sharon L. Adkins and her husband, Gary, of California, and Carlene E. Brown and her husband, Peter, of Weymouth; he also is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
