Sheila K. (Hussey) Carney, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was 83 years old.
The beloved wife of the late Edward Carney. Loving mother to E. Paul Carney, III and his wife Connie Sullivan Carney of Marshfield, Erin Perron of Kingston, Sean Carney of Hanson, and Brian Carney of Hull. Cherished sister of Donna Sullivan and her husband Jeri of Hull and the late Rosemary Parsons and her husband Paul of Hull. Devoted grandmother of Alicia Carney of Nantucket, Christopher Carney of Hull, Jimmy Perron of Kingston, and the late Jacqueline Perron. Great grandmother of Ava, Charlie, and Anthony. Sheila is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Sheila was a longtime resident of Hanson and Hull, Ma where she cherished living by the ocean and spending time at the beach. She worked as a paralegal for over 30 years and was a real estate broker and investor. She was the former President of the Hanson Historical Society in the mid-seventies. She was an active member of the Hull Yacht Club and Nantasket Beach Saltwater Club along with her husband Edward. Sheila loved spending her spring seasons on Nantucket Island and spent more than 50 years visiting. She was a highly skilled Nantucket lightship basket weaver, and she enjoyed gardening, reading, and collecting antiques.
Nothing gave Sheila more joy than her family. She was a mother and grandmother, extraordinaire, and just the mention of her children would bring a smile to her face. Her children and grandchildren were the foundation of her life – of all that was truly important to her. Although they are heartbroken over her passing, they are grateful for all the blessings she brought into their lives. Sheila will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday October 5th 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham, Ma. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull, Ma at 10:30am.
