Carole A. Borges, at 74
Former Hull resident Carole Ann [Goodlander] Borges passed away peacefully on Aug. 2. She died at her home in Knoxville, TN, surrounded by her loving family. She was 74.
Mrs. Borges was a writer, former Wellspring teacher, college professor, social worker, taxicab driver, poet, and reporter, among other work. She was the proud author of the book “Dreamseeker's Daughter.”
She was always politically active. She built two ferro-cement boats from scratch. She appreciated all forms of art and practiced many herself. She had fabulous gardens. She brought people together within her community in all that she did.
Former wife of the late Joseph Borges and Jeffrey Rosen; she was the dear mother of Gary Borges, the late Angela Galbraith, Cindy Borges-Peralta, and Joshua Borges. The dear big sister of Gale Whitbeck, Gary Goodlander (aka Captn Fatty), and Morgan Goodlander; she was cherished by her very special four granddaughters, three grandsons, one great granddaughter, two great grandsons, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she adored. Her sweet dogs Karma and Krishna, and her handsome cat Mr. Dunwoody are gratefully left in good hands. Last but not least, she leaves her many, many special friends throughout the country whom she has connected with and touched throughout this adventure called her life.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. at the James Avenue pier in Hull.
