Obituary: Frank D. Tobin

Frank D. Tobin, at 80
Francis D. Tobin of Plymouth, formerly of Hull, died Dec. 6, at the age of 80.
Mr. Tobin, who was called Frank, was born in Boston and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. He also worked for Hart Brothers Caterers for a number of years.
Mr. Tobin was raised in Charlestown, but spent most of his adult life raising a family in Hull. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was known to always have a pool cue handy to play a game or two. He also enjoyed an occasional game of golf, but always wanted to hit the ball straighter or further. He and his wife, Mary, always had a dog in the house and especially liked basset hounds. They must have had five or six over the years. After they retired they moved to Mashpee briefly before settling in Rockland, where they lived out their later years.
The beloved husband of the late Mary M. [Mahoney] Tobin and dear father of Dennis M. Tobin and his wife, Patty, of Marshfield, Timothy F. Tobin and his wife, Denise, of Plymouth, Andrew T. Tobin and his wife, Lisa, of Abington, and Dean R. Tobin of Humarock; Mr. Tobin also leaves his sisters, Barbara Hines of Revere and Christine Pescatore of Methuen; and his grandchildren: Michaela, Sean, Kayli, Ryan, and Benjamin Tobin.
An hour of visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. (Rte. 139), Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home immediately following. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St., Marshfield at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
