Obituary: Terrence K. Adams

Terrence K. Adams, 53

It is with great sadness that the family of Terrence (Terry) K. Adams, of Hudson N.H., formerly of Hull, announces his untimely death at age 53.

Terry was known for his big heart and for making friends wherever he went. If he shook your hand, you would be a friend for life. He always gave 100% to all his passions, whether riding to the top of the highest roller coaster, rappelling off a building, playing a great game of golf, cooking for family or friends, or fighting a three-alarm fire. He loved outdoor adventures – camping, fishing, whitewater rafting, hiking, bocce, and a good barbeque. Not to forget his great breakdancing skills, which made everyone laugh! He always lent a helping hand if he could.

In Hudson, Mr. Adams was making Sunday suppers for the vets and delivering the leftovers to the firehouse down the street.

Mr. Adams identified himself as a firefighter, and had a passion for the fire service and the culture within. He worked for the Hull Fire Department in 1990, and after a layoff was employed by the Boston Fire Department for more than 25 years. He treasured his fire department family -- members of the Hull and Boston fire departments who shared his passion for the job and supported him through his many struggles.

Mr. Adams was the son of the late Charles and Florence Adams of Hull. He was the loving brother of Patricia Kriensky and her husband, Marty, of Maine; John Adams and his wife, Mary, of Hull; Betsy Russo of Hull; Judith Adams and her fiancé, Robin Styles, of South Carolina; Timothy Adams and his wife, Nadine, of Hanover, and the late Melissa and her husband, William Dodson, of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

He not only leaves his family but many close friends who have stood by him since childhood, especially John Kichler and his family of New Hampshire, Greg Sobczak, and Bryan Evans and his family of Hull. The family can’t thank them enough.

As Terry would want to continue his journey of helping others, donations can be made in his memory to Wellspring Multiservice Center, 814 Nantasket Ave., Hull, MA 02045. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Born on Jan. 26, 1950, in Cohasset along with her triplet sisters, Debbie and Diane, Donna and her family moved from Hingham to Point Allerton Avenue in Hull when she was 5 and to a home where she would go on to spend most of her life.

In her early years, like most Hull kids, she spent her summer days enjoying the beach and going to Paragon Park. In the fall and winter, you would find her playing high school sports for the Hull Pirates.

In 1968, a U.S. Navy sailor, Joe Gagne, moved to Hull while he was stationed at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, overseeing the completion of the USS Whale, a submarine he would later serve aboard. Two years later, Donna and Joe were married at St. Ann’s Church in Hull.

Donna was a people-person, extremely hard-working and exceptionally generous. She worked for many years at A Street Liquors and also tended bar for Z Chef and Jo’s Nautical Bar.

Later in life, Donna found a new passion – taking care of the elderly, and she went on to become a certified nurse’s assistant for many years. She took loving care of all her patients and treated them like family. She would also go on to work at the Hull Senior Center.

Donna’s interests included reading, solving crossword puzzles, and collecting any type of lighthouse trinket she could find. Her favorite title was “grandmother,” and she truly loved being known as “Mimi,” just like her own mother and grandmother.

Donna is survived by her husband of almost 52 years, Joe, her sons and daughters-in-law, Joel Gagne and Meg Ansara, of Concord, and Jason and Jenna Gagne, of Hull; and her grandchildren, Tessa, Seamus, Owen, Aryana, Jack, and Julian. After she married, she resided for many years in Millis, then moved to Hull in 1977 after spending summers here with her husband and children. When she and her family moved to Hull, they purchased The Coffee Cup and ran the business for two years prior to her husband’s passing.

Judy worked in mutual funds in Boston and loved taking the commuter boat every day. On her retirement, she spent time sailing, country line dancing, and traveling locally to Cape Cod beaches.

In more recent years, she spent most of her time at home with her family and especially looked forward to time with her great-grandchildren.

Judy was predeceased by her husband, Seymour Doliner, and by her longtime partner, Alfred Zella. She was the loving mother to Joanne Marshall and to Maxine Nash and her husband, Michael, cherished grandmother to Leah Andrews and her husband, Ian, and dear great-grandmother to Colby and Josephine.

A private graveside service was held at Hull Village Cemetery.

Obituary: John T. Dunn

John T. Dunn, 59

John T. Dunn, of Hull, passed away at home on Dec. 20, surrounded by loved ones, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 59.

Husband of 31 years to his beloved wife, AnnMarie (Roche) Dunn, he was the father of Meaghan Ann and Kathleen Dunn, of Hull, and the dear son of Joan Dunn and her late husband, John (Jack) Dunn, of Hingham.

He was the devoted brother of Joan Marie Chittick (husband Charlie), Jimmy Dunn (wife Donna), and Jeanette Dunn, all of Hingham. He also leaves behind many family members, including his nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom were blessed to know their “Uncle Johnny.”

John was born in 1962 and grew up in Hingham, where he was fortunate enough to be surrounded by his childhood friends, with whom he spent many happy moments swimming and boating at Kimball Beach. His love of the ocean started early and was fostered not only by Kimball Beach but also by the summers spent at his grandparents’ cottage in Hull, where all the cousins would spend every weekend on Nantasket Beach. He carried this love into his adult life with many trips on his boat MadKat, named after his daughters.

After graduating from Hingham High School in 1980, John went on to Calhoon MEBA Engineering School, where he was able to explore ports around the world while training as a Marine engineer. After graduation, he joined the Millwright Local 1121, following in his father’s footsteps; that led him eventually to IPC Lydon, which he retired from. He worked hard at his job and was respected by all those in the industry he crossed paths with.

In 1984, John met AnnMarie at Paragon Park, where his parents also met many years before, and grew into having an amazing and loving relationship that allowed them to continue to fall more in love each day. They went on to have their two daughters, Meaghan and Kathleen, whom John loved dearly.

John was a proud friend of Bill W for 26 years.

Services have been held. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Danielle E. Struzziery Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Emma Ryan Memorial Fund, both c/o Hingham Institution for Savings, 401 Nantasket Ave., Hull, MA 02045. See www.Keohane.com for online condolences.
