/Edward Frank Smith, 83
Edward Frank Smith, of Hull, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton on Dec. 28 with his family lovingly by his side. He had succumbed to a coronavirus-related pneumonia. He was 83.
Since 1984 Ed had resided in Hull, where he enjoyed coastal New England life, embraced his neighbors as best friends, and lived selflessly with a devotion to his family. Along with his loving wife Dorothy, they founded and successfully operated a real estate appraisal business in New England for many years. Ed was highly regarded as an industry expert in commercial real properties in the Greater Boston area.
He had honorably and proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1956-1962, achieving the rank of lance corporal.
Everyone who knew Ed knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle, and peaceful person and that he loved his family very much.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith, and children Nancy Lacerda, of Abington, Tracy Constantino (Brian), of Plymouth, Robert (“Bobby”) Machinski (Sharon), of Campbell, Calif., and Jennifer Gilligan, of Pelham, N.H. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Robert (“Bobby”) Lacerda (Kylie), Ryan Gilligan, Broghan Gilligan, Christen Constantino (Matthew), Alexander Constantino, and Kaida Machinski, and two precious great-grandchildren: McKenna and Mason Lacerda.
He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Smith (Kathy), of Plymouth, and nieces Christine and Sarah and nephew Steven. Ed was recently predeceased by his brother Russell Smith, of Stoneham.
He will forever be in their hearts and will be missed very much every day.
A funeral will take place at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish St. Ann Church, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull, on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at a date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wellspringmultiservice.org.
