Obituary: Michael Keren McDonough

Michael Keren McDonough, at 94

Michael Keren “Papa” McDonough died at home on April 2, 2025, at age 94.

Mr. McDonough was born in County Galway, Ireland to Annie (Daley) and Patsy McDonough.

At age 24, he emigrated to the United States where he met the love of his life, Mary (McDonagh). They were married for 58 years until her death in 2014. They settled in Dorchester and relocated to Hull in the 1970s to a house on the bay that reminded him of his childhood home in Ireland. You often found him sitting on his front porch watching Judge Judy and admiring the beautiful bay view.

He is survived by his children: Maureen, Nancy (Mark Currier), Eileen (Richard Chou), Michael (Susan), and Thomas (Christine); his grandchildren: Julianna, Kelly, Mari, Makayla, Shane, Jillian, Elizabeth, and Nathan; great grandson Leo, and many nieces and nephews. Loving brother of the late Nell, Mary, Barbara, Festus, Joseph, Sean, Bridie, Nora, Nancy, and Thomas; survived by Patrick and Kate.

The family would like to thank Maureen, Bridget, Grainne, Nancy, Louisa, Colby, and Tania, whose care allowed him to enjoy time at home.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, April 8 in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home in Hingham, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church on Wednesday, April 9. Burial was in Hull Village Cemetery.
