Obituary: Walter J. Parsons
/Walter J. Parsons, at 82
Walter James Parsons, 82, of North Easton, formerly of Hull, passed away on March 11, 2025, at home after a brief illness.
Born on October 19, 1942, in Chelsea, he was the son of Annabell and Arthur Parsons. Mr. Parsons grew up in Revere and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1961. He served aboard the USS Midway, was stationed on Midway Island, and was part of Helicopter Utility Squadron 1 at NAAS Ream Field in Imperial Beach, California, until his honorable discharge in 1967.
In 1962, Mr. Parsons was introduced to Dusty, the love of his life, by his future father-in-law. They married in Texas in 1964 and returned to Massachusetts in 1965 to begin their family.
Mr. Parsons owned and operated a Sunoco gas station in Revere before relocating his family to Hull in 1974. He went on to work as a heavy equipment and auto mechanic for W.A. Kraft and McGee Toyota.
Mr. Parsons had many passions, including hunting, fishing, and, of course, his love for hockey – especially the Boston Bruins. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether fixing a neighbor’s car or offering his mechanical expertise to local fishermen. A generous man, Mr. Parsons was known for slipping $20 bills to his grandchildren whenever he could and telling them stories about his life – some based on truth, others a little more imaginative. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: a relaxing tub soak, playing the daily lottery, reading The Sunday Globe and The Hull Times, sipping Red Rose tea, indulging in sweets, and peacefully channel surfing.
Mr. Parsons is survived by his beloved wife, Dusty; their children, Cheryl Killion and her husband, Joseph; Dawn Camardella and her husband, Matthew; and Damon Parsons and his wife, Kristen; seven grandchildren: Alicia, Rebecca, Finnian, Jamie, Libby, Cyrus, and Ruby; and two great-grandchildren: Ava Lynn and Katie Scarlett. He also is survived by his siblings, Joan Falco, Paul Parsons, Marilyn Parsons, and Rita Nazzaro, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Parsons.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St., South Easton. A private burial will take place at Bourne National Cemetery.
