Obituary: Theodore William Anastos

Theodore Anastos, at 83

Theodore William Anastos, formerly of Hingham and Norwell, passed away at the age of 83 at his home in Hull on Oct. 3, next to the ocean, with his loving wife of 59 years by his side.

Born Oct. 5, 1939, “Big Ted” is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pringle Anastos, son Ted Jr. (wife Nicole), daughter Meg (husband Greg), his devoted grandchildren Sam, Chloe, Alexis, Thalia, George, and Ariana, and his brother, Richard. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Smith Gallinaro.

Born to Christus and Dorothy (Goodwin) Anastos in Cohasset, Mr. Anastos made a career as a painting contractor with his family, C.G. Anastos & Sons. He attended Nichols College and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Okinawa as an Army security agent. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling and attending every horse show, hockey, football, lacrosse, basketball, and skiing event for his children and grandchildren.

We welcome all to honor his life during visiting hours on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mr. Anastos’s favorite charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
