Obituary: Patricia A. Loomis

Patricia A. Loomis, at 85

Patricia A. (Tighe) Loomis, of Lakeville, formerly of Hull and Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away on Aug. 15, 2023 at age 85 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born and raised in the Neponset area of Dorchester, she was the devoted mother of Shawna P. Connolly and her children, Emma L. Kelliher and Porter C. Kelliher, of Lakeville. Beloved wife of the late Charles L. Loomis. Survivors include Douglas S. Loomis and his wife, Olivia, of Murphy, Texas, and Julia Loomis Glenn of Sanger, Texas, and her children Chad Seagle and Melissa Burgner. She was predeceased by Gregory C. Loomis and is survived by his children, Heather Loomis and Erin Loomis Laughlin, and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Loomis is survived by her siblings, Thomas Tighe and his wife, Maryellen, of Marshfield, Alice (Dolly) Hutchison and her husband, Rick, of Hanover, and Stephen Tighe of Dorchester. Predeceased by Paul Tighe and John Tighe. She was the caring aunt to many nieces and nephews, and the former spouse and lifelong friend of Andrew F. Connolly of Boston.

Mrs. Loomis worked as the vice president of sales at Data Printer Corp. in Malden, followed by Oki Data, both computer printer companies. She left the corporate world with the hope of becoming a small business owner and was successful. During her career, Mrs. Loomis owned and operated Bike-N-Blade in Weymouth, the Bermaken Hotel in Hull, and Furniture Medic in Punta Gorda, Fla.

Mrs. Loomis loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was often the first attendee at any event, including dance recitals, school shows, and sporting events. She loved to chase “yard sales” all over the South Shore for the thrill of a good bargain. Pat loved large, extended family gatherings, including annual ski trips and canoeing down the Saco River.

A memorial service was held at Old Ship Church in Hingham on Wednesday, Aug. 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ.org, or the Pan-Mass Challenge at PMC.org.
