Obituary: Brendan Geary

Brendan Geary, at 49

Brendan Geary, a longtime Hull resident, passed away on Father’s Day.

Born on Nov. 28, 1973, he was 49 years old. Mr. Geary spent many early days wearing out the pedals of his Big Wheel through the Arnold Arboretum, where his mother was the librarian. He and his mother then moved to the South Shore, where he attended Hanover schools before moving to Hull. Mr. Geary worked as a computer scientist, as well as an all-around Renaissance man, doing a little bit of everything for a long line of friends, many of them Hullonians. He never hesitated to remark upon how grateful he was to live in a town where people stood up, by, and for each other like family.

Mr. Geary might say his greatest accomplishment was being a father to his son, Shane Geary, a second-class petty officer at Naval Base Ventura County, Calif., of whom he was immensely proud and whom he loved boundlessly.

Mr. Geary also leaves behind his mother, Sheila Connor, of Hull, his uncles Jay Connor of Cambridge, and Mark Connor and his wife, Lee, of Lexington, along with his cousins Sarah and Emily. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, June 24, from 4-8 p.m. at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wellspring Multi-Service Center, 814 Nantasket Ave., Hull, or at wellspringmultiservice.org.
