Obituary: Edward W. Webb
/Edward W. Webb, at 73
Edward W. Webb, 73, of Hull, passed away on May 5, 2023 in the West Roxbury VA Medical Center after a long illness. He lived in Hull with the love of his life, Cheryl, for 32 years.
Mr. Webb graduated from Hull High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with distinction in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He returned home and became a certified commercial diver and started his own company, working on projects all over the country. Local projects included repairing the Queen Elizabeth II when she was docked in Boston Harbor. He also participated in expeditions locating and recovering historic sunken vessels in South America and the Caribbean.
Mr. Webb truly was a renaissance man. His main passion was his unique finished carpentry work. He also loved to cook, bake, and work on any type of automobile. He felt most comfortable working and enjoyed time spent on his boat. He also liked spending time in Maine with his friends that he had formed during his many business ventures, and loved to reconnect with friends and classmates, especially at his class reunions.
During his illness, he still managed to finish projects he was passionate about, and never complained. Mr. Webb was always willing to help anyone in need and had a very big heart when it came to animals, from dogs to macaws to rabbits of all kinds.
Mr. Webb will be missed and lovingly remembered by his best friend and partner, Cheryl, and his pet rabbits in Hull. He is survived by his sisters June, Irene, and Fay of Florida, and brother Foster of Cape Cod. He was the son of the late Foster and Alda Webb and was predeceased by his brother, Wayne. Mr. Webb leaves behind many other extended family members and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 9 from 1-4 p.m. at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond St., Hingham. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 10 at 10 a.m. at Hull Village Cemetery. A celebration of life to follow at Local 02045 restaurant, 2 A St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
