Rebecca Rosen-Horn, 75, of Hull peacefully passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, in her home at the beach, surrounded by her family, after battling Alzheimer’s disease for seven years.
Ms. Rosen-Horn was originally from Red Bank, N.J., born to an Italian mother and Jewish father. After graduating from Seton Hall University, she moved to Boston to pursue a nursing career in labor and delivery at Beth Israel Hospital. She was lovingly married to Max Horn for 45 years and was a devoted mother to her three children, Carla McCormick, Todd Horn, and Randy Horn.
After her children graduated from Weston High School, Rebecca and Max resettled in Hull, where they built a home on the beach that was always open to friends and family to visit for frequent cookouts. Ms. Rosen-Horn was known to cherish her lifelong friendships and prioritize seeing family near and far.
Ms. Rosen-Horn was passionate about fitness, healthy eating, traveling, and reading. She was actively involved in her community and giving back. Ms. Rosen-Horn regularly donated platelets, was a co-president of the PTO, and a volunteer at the Council on Aging, where she led a walking group with seniors. Ms. Rosen-Horn adored babies, and her world was complete when she became a grandmother. She dedicated much of her time to playing with and caring for her dear late grandson, Max, with whom she shared a very special bond. As her disease progressed and her abilities to interact with others weakened, her love for her grandchildren never ceased; she would always light up when seeing Mason Daniel, Eva Maxie, and Milana Rebecca.
Ms. Rosen-Horn leaves a legacy she was very proud of – seeing her children all grow up to happily marry and continue the tradition of raising close, loving families. She left an impression on all who knew her and she was known for her loyalty and direct honesty. In her final years, Ms. Rosen-Horn had the best loving and skilled care, allowing her to live a dignified life in her home, overlooking the ocean, bathed in sunlight, smiling until the very end.
A wake will be held at Brasco Funeral Home in Waltham on Friday, Dec. 1, from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rebecca’s honor to Murphys Care, a non-profit that provides financial assistance to families and individuals dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia: Murphys Care Act, 158 River Rd., Hanover, MA 02339.
