Obituary: Edythe Walsh

Edythe Walsh, at 93

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our loving mother, Edythe Walsh.

Born on Jan. 28, 1930 to Roger and Bertha (Alden) MacIver, she peacefully left this world on Sept. 30, 2023.

Mrs. Walsh grew up on Myrtle Street in North Quincy, where she met her late husband, William P. Walsh, her high school sweetheart. They were married on Sept. 11, 1949 and resided in North Quincy, where they started to raise their young family. They moved from there and lived in Billerica and Rockland before moving to Hull in 1958 where they settled and raised their 10 children. Mrs. Walsh was a loving wife and mother to all her children. She was a loving and caring grandmother to 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Walsh and her late husband enjoyed traveling and they had many great adventures throughout the U.S., Europe, and Canada. After his passing, she continued to enjoy traveling with other family members. She loved Broadway musicals, going to the theater in Boston and in New York City. She also enjoyed playing tennis with her friends, and enjoyed going to all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Mrs. Walsh loved to cook, making big meals for her large family and friends. Holidays were her favorite, especially Thanksgiving. Mrs. Walsh was proud of her Alden family heritage. Her great-grandfather was the last of the Duxbury Aldens to live in the Alden home before it was ultimately sold to the Alden Kindred.

Mrs. Walsh is survived by her children, Gail Walsh, Cynthia Murphy (Bob), David Walsh (Connie) of Hull, Priscilla Walsh of North Attleboro, Beverly Walsh of West Springfield, William Walsh (Barbie), Sharon Belisle (Jack) of Weymouth and Rick Walsh (Linda) of Vonore, Tennessee. She is also survived by her grandchildren Keri, Robbie, Michael Melisa, Matthew, Laura, Kathleen, Christopher, Jennifer, and Liam, and her great-grandchildren Joey, Kilee, Keira, Oliver, and Trent. She was predeceased by her husband, William P Walsh, her son Paul Walsh, and her daughter Andrea Cassie.

A graveside service was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 5, for relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice
