Margaret A. [Murphy] Shields, of Weymouth, formerly of Hull, died Dec. 25. She was 76.
Known to friends and family as Peggy, she grew up in Roxbury and raised her family in Hull. She was an avid sports fan, cheering especially for the New England Patriots and her beloved Tom Brady. Mrs. Shields enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to Foxwoods. She will be sadly missed.
Beloved wife of the late Martin T. Shields Jr. and longtime companion of the late Martin J. Burke; she was the loving mother of Catherine Shields of Randolph, Martin T. Shields III and his wife, Debbie, of Hull, Maryellen Shields of Auburndale, Christine Shields of Quincy, Susan Collins and her husband, John, of Weymouth, and the late Nancy Freeland. The cherished Nannie of Carol, Jackie, Kayla, Sam, Jenna, and Christina, Mrs. Shields also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday prior to her funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 12 p.m. Burial at Hull Village Cemetery will follow.
