Esther A. Field, at 82
Esther Ann (Kleeves) Field died peacefully Sunday morning, April 8, with her children by her side. She was 82 and had recently suffered a brief illness.
Mrs. Field was born and raised in Muskegon, Mich., where she met and married the love of her life, Lenny. They settled in Hull in 1955.
Mrs. Field retired from the Hingham District Court in 1994. She and her husband were devoted members of St. Nicholas United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She was also a member of numerous organizations, including the V.F.W. women’s auxiliary, Hull Garden Club, Lions Club, Scully Senior Center, and the interfaith choir. She had a passion for flowers, gardening, and singing in church. She recently said her greatest joy has been her grandchildren and the anticipation of her great- grandson, due this August.
The beloved wife of the late Leonard C. Field Sr., she is survived by her son, Leonard C. Field Jr., and his wife, Caroline (Tierney); her daughter, Janet Corner, and her husband, Russell, all of Rockland; and her brother, Howard Kleeves, of Michigan.
Mrs. Field also leaves her grandchildren, Michael A. Meech and his fiancée, Rosie Tropea, of Abington; Francis X. Meech III, of Texas; Kayla Esther-Ann Meech, Leonard C. Field III, and Erin E. Field, of Rockland; and Matthew and Abigail Donovan, of Hull. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, on Friday from 5-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Nicholas United Methodist Church, 128 Spring St., Hull, on Saturday at 10 a.m.
