Obituary: Joseph R. Cox
Joseph R. Cox, 66
Joseph R. Cox, of Hull and formerly of Milton, passed away after a brief illness on Dec. 28, surrounded by his loving family. He was 66.
He was born to Clarence James Cox and Angelina Theresa (Veneto) and raised in Milton. After graduating from Milton High School, he went to a culinary arts school. He was passionate about cooking, and if you knew him, chances are he gave you a hot meal at one time or another. He fed his family, friends, neighbors, and, yes, even complete strangers. After culinary school, he became a realtor, owning his own real estate business.
Beloved husband of 42 years to Joyce (Marshall) Cox of Hull, Joseph was the devoted father of Kerri Dalrymple and her husband, John, of Hull. He was cherished Grampy to Cameron Dalrymple and grandpup Brody and “Joe’s Best Friend” of 16 years, Kacie.
He was the beloved brother of Stephen Cox and Angela McHugh and the late James, Chris, and Michael Cox. He was a caring son-in-law to Phyllis Marshall and brother-in-law to Don Marshall and his wife, Kathy, Chuck Marshall and his wife, Susan, and Tim Marshall and his wife, Denise.
He was loving uncle to Christopher McHugh, Kelly Webber and her husband, Greg, Tim Marshall, Haley Marshall, Paige Marshall, and Kyle Marshall.
He was a special friend to Richie Fleck and his wife, Nancy, and family, and great-uncle to Christopher and Emma.
Joseph was funny, kind, and generous and a friend to all, with a heart bigger than life.
A very special thank you to the staff at Mount Auburn’s ICU for their amazing care for Joseph and support for his family.
A celebration of life service was held on Jan. 5, prior to a funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham. Burial was in Hull Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph can be made to The Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., 2nd floor, Boston, MA 02115.
