Obituary: Evelyn E. Lahage

Evelyn E. Lahage, at 94
Evelyn E. Lahage, whose family operated several food concessions on Nantasket Beach, died July 13 at the age of 94.
Daughter of the late Abe and Farieda (Hobaica) Lahage, she was the sister of Henry, Alice, Joseph, Felix, George, Helen, and Edmund Lahage, and Frances Goldie, all of whom predeceased her.
Ms. Lahage is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews. Evelyn and her siblings grew up in her family’s food service business that, many years ago, included Joseph’s Pizza and Lahage’s Salt Water Taffy.
As an adult, she managed many aspects of the business. Paragon Park visitors wouldn’t consider the day complete without the purchase of at least one box of Lahage’s Salt Water Taffy, which was made on premises. Many daytrippers would be enticed to stop at Lahage’s as they were entranced by brightly colored slabs of taffy being “pulled” by machines set up in view of the concession’s windows.
Evelyn Lahage earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University and loved traveling with her sisters and other family members. A fine athlete, she delighted in playing baseball with her nieces and nephews and she spent many happy hours golfing with family and friends.
Services have already been held. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. For online condolences, visit www. Keohane.com.
