Obituary: Herb A. Cook
Herb A. Cook, at 71
On Herb A. Cook, loving husband and father, died Saturday, Feb. 16 at age 71.
Mr. Cook was born in Bath, Maine, but lived most of his life in Hingham and Hull. He was a brilliant manual-machinist and contributed his tools and materials to hospitals and to NASA. He would say his biggest accomplishments were his son, Jeremy, and marrying Terry.
Mr. Cook had a passion for watches, fishing, biking, photography, and old cameras. When he wasn’t out in the woods or by the lake, he could be found tinkering at his workbench in the garage or basement.
After serving time in the Vietnam War, he found everyday blessings in those around him, which instilled in him a love of porch-sitting, appreciation for the beauty of nature, and enjoyment in the company of family. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Terry; his son, Jeremy; his sisters, Leslie and Ginny; his brother, Jim; five stepchildren and 16 grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. His loved ones will always carry Herb’s memory in their hearts.
A private family funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, online at https://donate.dvnf.org.
