Obituary: Joan M. Kane

Joan M. Kane, at 88
Joan M. Kane of Hull, formerly of Easton, Penn., died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 26. She was 88.
Prior to moving to Hull in 2007, Ms. Kane was employed by Betts Hospital and then Metropolitan Life Insurance for many years. After retirement, she volunteered at an elementary school.
Ms. Kane was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge, going to the movies, and getting together with friends. Although she had no children of her own, she was like a mother and mentor to many in her family. She had a wonderful sense of style and a terrific sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Kane is survived by her niece, Susan Hechler, with whom she lived; and by her sister, Gertrude Stoneback, of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: James Kane, Mary Kane Rossley, Margaret Phelan, and Helen Nausbaum.
A special thank you goes to Hospice of the South Shore and North River Home Care for their exceptional care and support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Hull, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. See www.Keohane.com for online condolences.
