Obituary: Richard C. LaPierre
Richard C. LaPierre, at 68
Richard C. LaPierre, of Hull and Florida, died surrounded by loving family members on Jan. 10.
Born in Somerville and known as Rick, he was an Eagle Scout who graduated from Belmont High School in 1968. A true patriot, he volunteered soon after graduation to join the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served honorably for four years.
Ever resilient, Mr. LaPierre’s “never-give-up” energy epitomized his entrepreneurial spirit as he optimistically rolled the dice on numerous business ventures, which ultimately led him to his lifelong passion: helping people. He started BioScience West, a Florida remediation company.
Mr. LaPierre always wore a smile. He dearly loved his family, his friends, his country, meatballs, whoopie pies, and popcorn.
In addition to his mother, Loretta LaPierre, of Belmont, Mr. LaPierre is survived by his wife, Marion Whouley LaPierre, of Hull and Florida; a son, Richard LaPierre and his wife, Jennifer; and a daughter, Nicole Rivera, and her husband, Tomas. He also leaves his “bonus” Whouley children: John and his wife, Julia, and James and his wife, Stephanie; and his loving brothers and sisters, Michael and his wife, Donna; David and his wife, Debbie; Laurie Cohen and her husband, Jeff; Donna Horgan; and a brother-in-law, Robert Horgan.
Mr. LaPierre also leaves his former wife, Mary LaPierre; his aunt, Gloria LaPierre; six grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Brown and Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Rd., Belmont. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at VFW Post No. 8818, 688 Huron Ave., Cambridge, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life and lunch at the same location.
