Obituary: William M. Cloherty

William M. Cloherty, at 75
William M. Cloherty, 75, who was long active in state and national Democratic politics, died Dec. 29 at his Bethesda, Maryland home, surrounded by family and friends.
Reared in Medford and Hull, Mr. Cloherty was a 1962 graduate of Harvard College. A man of strong Catholic faith, he often transformed lives. He derived his greatest joy from serving the poor in Washington D.C. and in developing nations.
Beloved husband of Margaret [Bland] Cloherty for 37 years, he was the dearest elder brother of two sisters, Diane and Mary Ann, and four brothers: James, Dennis, John, and Brian. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, Jan. 6, from 4-8 p.m., at Pyne-Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave. Burial will be at Hull Village Cemetery.
