Francis X. Shannon, at 87
Francis X. Shannon, of Medford and Hull, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Jan. 7. He was 87.
A Boston College alumnus, he proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He retired after more than 30 years for the US Postal Service and was a member of American Legion Post #45, Medford.
For many years, Mr. Shannon spent his summers in Hull, enjoying walks on Nantasket Beach. He collected a lifetime of lasting memories of dear friends.
Mr. Shannon is survived by Emily [Donadio] Shannon, his loving wife with whom he would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this month; and his beloved children, John F. Shannon and Carol Aguiar, of Tyngsboro, Thomas J. Shannon and his wife, Robin, of Minnesota, Mark A. Shannon and his wife, Colleen, of Plymouth, Susan E. Keating and her husband, Larry, of Medford, Eileen F. Garrity and her husband, Joseph, of Weymouth, and Andrew J. Shannon and his wife, Marjorie, of Billerica. He was a proud Papa of 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
