Priscilla R. Cosgrove, at 83
Priscilla R. [Irvin] Cosgrove, 83, formerly of Hull, died Friday, Sept. 30, at Care One of Newton, where she had been a resident since 2010.
Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late Arthur W. and Gladys E. (Turner) Irvin, she lived in many places in Massachusetts, including Amherst, Hull, Quincy, and Milton.
Mrs. Cosgrove was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Massasoit Nursing School. She worked in geriatrics for more than 20 years. She was a registered nurse at various nursing facilities, including the Deering Nursing Home in Hingham and the Samuel Marcus Nursing Home in Weymouth.
Mrs. Cosgrove was a longtime volunteer at Milton Hospital and was honored with the facility’s highest award. She loved reading, walking the beach, owls, and Lake Sunapee, NH.
She was the wife of the late Robert Cosgrove. Survivors include two sons, John M. Silva and his wife, Helena, of Methuen, and Paul D. Silva and his wife, Melanie, of Lexington, NC; a daughter, Deborah A. Silva of Secretary, MD; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Cosgrove is also survived by her former husband, John A. Silva of Hull.
Calling hours are Friday, from 4-7 p.m., in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford. Her funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 8, at 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
