Obituary: Dorothy H. Gibbs

Dorothy H. (Lewis) Gibbs, of Hull, formerly of Marshfield, Weymouth, and Hingham, died peacefully at her home on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022. She was 84.
Mrs. Gibbs was born in Brighton on Sept. 2, 1938, and was a cherished daughter of the late Howard and Florence (Shepherd) Lewis. She was raised in Brighton and went to local schools.
Mrs. Gibbs’s career was in healthcare as a registered nurse. She worked for Fox Hill Village retirement community in Westwood and loved being a nurse, caring for her patients, and all the relationships she built throughout the years. She retired in 2014 to spend more time with her family.
Mrs. Gibbs’s life lessons and example are part of her legacy that continue through her family and friends. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.
Mrs. Gibbs was the beloved wife of the late James H. Gibbs, who died in 2001. Together they shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Barbara Garvin and her husband, Kevin, of Hull, Michael Gibbs and his wife, Robin, of California, Daniel Gibbs and his wife, Roberta, of North Carolina, and the late James Gibbs. She was the loving grandmother of seven and the loving great grandmother of six. Mrs. Gibbs was the dear sister of Marin Bricker and her late husband of North Carolina, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visiting hours were held on Jan. 9 in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, and her funeral was held in St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Hingham. Services concluded with interment in New Calvary Cemetery in Boston.
