Obituary: Russell J. Goulart Sr.

Russell J. Goulart Sr., at 55

Russell Joseph Goulart Sr., 55, of Hull died on Aug. 14, 2023, in the hospital suddenly and unexpectedly.
Born in Boston on Nov. 23, 1967, he was the devoted and loving father of Russell Joseph Goulart, Jr. of Hull and the son of Barbara Bogart Goulart of Hull and the late Russell Edward Goulart, who lived in Florida.
Mr. Goulart was a father first in all that he did. He also cared for his extended family and friends. Life brought a variety of passions and careers. As a child, building ramps with plywood and bricks to propel their BMX bikes into the air, Russ and his younger brother, Joshua, fostered his love of fun and adventure. His love of cars led him to auto mechanics. He loved to explore the ocean, the islands of Boston Harbor, and the campgrounds of New England, and he spent countless occasions sharing these passions with his loved ones. Then life moved him to become an EMT and beyond, where he showed his ability to put people at ease as he cared for them. The love of hockey was always a part of Mr. Goulart’s life. He was either playing, coaching, or being an EMT during games at rinks. Mr. Goulart’s greatest gift may have been his smile and his ability to love those around him and make them feel loved.
Mr. Goulart is survived by siblings Mary Goulart-Kerr, Tracey Masterson, Gina Fitzmaurice, and Joshua Goulart; brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong friend Bob Keough, and all the many friends who have touched Russ’s life.
Relatives and friends are invited to Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, on Friday, Aug. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. On-street parking is available. For more information and online guestbook, visit www.downingchapel.com.
