Steven Quint, at 83
Steven Quint, a loving husband, father, and partner, of Florida, a former longtime resident of Hull, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 83.
Born on Jan. 25, 1940, in New York, he was the son of the late Joel and Rose “Peggie” Quint. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years growing up in Newton. After high school, Mr. Quint served in the Coast Guard for several years. In 1976, he started his own business selling CB radios to his friends in his living room. Eventually, he grew his company into one of the largest marine and boating catalog retailers in the country. In addition, he had a successful career in real estate development.
Mr. Quint had a passion for the ocean and the outdoors. He owned multiple boats throughout the years and enjoyed both shallow-water and deep-sea fishing. Mr. Quint also had a passion for drag racing that began in his teens. That passion continued throughout the years, and in his 60s, he owned a drag racing team with two cars. He also enjoyed clay shooting, which simulates hunting birds in flight. He drove 80 miles twice a week to go clay shooting with friends.
Mr. Quint is survived by his partner, Judy, his sons and grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his three wives, Millie, Harrie, and Kathy.
A graveside funeral service was held at Hull Village Cemetery on March 12. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
