Obituary: Elizabeth R. Tuplin

Elizabeth R. Tuplin, 85

Elizabeth R. (Campbell) Tuplin of Hull, formerly of Prince Edward Island, Canada, passed away on Aug. 9, 2022, at the age of 85.

Beloved wife of the late Charles. N. Tuplin, she was the loving mother of Charles C. Tuplin and his wife, Heike Mertens-Tuplin, of East Weymouth, Leslie E. Tuplin of Hull, and Joseph G. Tuplin and his wife, Barby Ximena Viera-Tuplin, of Hull. Mrs. Tuplin also is survived by three grandsons, Michael Tuplin, (Jennifer Hicks, partner) of Hull, Corey Tuplin (Tori Basbson) of Abington, and Trevor Tuplin (Mitchell Beers, partner) of North Carolina, as well as her buddies, Thumbelina and Bailey.

Known as Liz, Mrs. Tuplin was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., where she graduated from Holland College with her degree in business and broadcasting. She worked at CFCY radio station in the newsroom, loving being part of the action. She met her loving husband, Chuck “Chief” Tuplin, and moved to Boston, where they were married by Cardinal Cushing at the West End Cathedral in Boston. She was first employed by Standard Oil in downtown Boston and later worked at Talbots for 20 years as a retail manager in Hingham, helping orchestrate the move of the development and distribution center to Lakeville.

Mrs. Tuplin’s all-time favorite job was in semi-retirement where she worked at Wellspring Multi-Service Center, starting as a volunteer and later as a shopkeeper. She loved every minute she was there, as well as her coworkers and customers.

Mrs. Tuplin loved hosting her family for holidays, and especially summer barbeques at her home on Gunrock Beach, where her garden was always pristine. She loved St. Mary’s of Assumption and being involved in pastoral care and delivering blessings to house-bound parishioners. She had a blast bowling with her friends, eating out, knitting, and playing bingo.

Visiting hours and services were held at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel in Hingham on Aug.16. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation at wellspringmultiservice.org with the notation “In Memory of Liz Tuplin.”
