Obituary: Beatrice Pattavina Sloan

Beatrice Pattavina Sloan, at 83
Beatrice Pattavina Sloan of Hull, formerly of Duxbury and Weymouth, died Feb. 14, after a period of failing health. She was 83.
Mrs. Sloan adored her family and cherished the time they spent together. Their fondest memories were at Saquish Beach in Duxbury, where they enjoyed boating, bonfires, fishing, clam digging, and swimming. She was a widow at age 50, which started a new chapter in her life involving travel to Spain, France, and beyond. A community-minded person, she was instrumental in the efforts to keep the carousel in Hull and was a member of the Duxbury, Weymouth, and Hull Garden Clubs.
Education was paramount and Mrs. Sloan excelled in her studies at Regis College, then at Women’s Medical College in Philadelphia.
She enjoyed being a mentor to so many and was always looking for ways to give back and help people accomplish their goals.
A fan of live music, she enjoyed Bruce Springsteen, Luciano Pavarotti, Lyle Lovett, and Chris Botti.
Mrs. Sloan will be remembered as a true original who loved life, laughter, and music.
Beloved wife of the late Hugh J. Sloan, Jr.; loving mother of Alice Sloan of Hull and Hugh J. Sloan, III and his wife, Debbie, of California; sister of Terese D’Urso and her husband, Nino, of Cohasset, Catherine Pattavina of Quincy, and the late Dr. Vincent Pattavina and Dante Pattavina. Mrs. Sloan also leaves her sister in law, Josephine Pattavina; several nieces and nephews; her cat, Rocky, and her grandcats, Bella and Junior.
