Edward F. Hanlon, at 95
Edward Francis Hanlon, 95, of Hull, formerly of Boston and Randolph, died peacefully July 4.
Mr. Hanlon graduated from Jamaica Plain Agricultural High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Navy in 1942. He survived the sinking of the USS Southern Seas in Okinawa on Oct. 9, 1945.
Mr. Hanlon was a union carpenter. For most of his life, his hobby was organic gardening, which he pursued with passion.
The beloved husband of the late Anne [McCarthy] Hanlon; he was the loving father of Joan Morey of Hull, Anne Keane and her husband, Roy, of Hanson, Mary Davis and her husband, Ray, of Cohasset, Edward Hanlon and his wife, Diane, of Hanson, Paula Hanlon of Hull, Mark Hanlon of Halifax, and Michael Hanlon and his wife, Marie, of Hull. Dear brother of James Hanlon of Scituate and the late William Hanlon, Kathleen Bystrom, Agnes Bradley, and Margaret Harrington; Mr. Hanlon also leaves 17 grandchildren and great-children; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, from 4-7 p.m., in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull. Interment will be private.
