Irma H. Mooney, at 89
Irma H. [Hunt] Mooney (Hunt), age 89, of Weymouth, died – surrounded by her loving family – on June 15. She was born in Brockton, grew up in Hull, and attended Hingham schools. She was a graduate of the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. She met her husband, Richard, while attending college in Boston. They soon got married, started a family in Brookline, then settled in Weymouth in 1955, where they raised their family.
Mrs. Mooney always stayed in touch with her roots, taking many family trips to Nantasket Beach in Hull where she grew up. She was fun, witty, compassionate, and will always be remembered for her love for her family, lifelong nursing career, playing bridge, and her passion for all sports.
The beloved wife of the late Richard P. Mooney, she is the loving mother of Rick Mooney and his wife, Carol, of Weymouth, Donna Bradford of Florida, Jan DePari of Bridgewater, Jeffrey Mooney and his wife, Mary, of Marshfield, Pamela Needle and her husband, Bill, of Florida, and Thomas Mooney of Hanover. She was the devoted sister of Avis Studley and her husband, Tom, of Hingham; and also is survived by 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
