James H. Bornheim, at 85
James H. Bornheim, (Jim) a longtime Hull resident passed to eternal rest after a brief illness on July 8. He was 85.
Mr. Bornheim was born in Everett to the late Henry James and Elsie Bornheim. He spent his childhood in Cohasset and Hingham, graduating from Hingham High School with the class of 1948. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Bornheim enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a Korean War veteran and served his country in several European countries, including Germany, birthplace of his parents. Mr. Bornheim received several medals and honors for his service to his country.
After his discharge from the military, Mr. Bornheim married his high school classmate, Theodora (Teddy) Cobb, from Hull. He attended Northeastern University and earned a degree in Business Management. Mr. Bornheim’s career path led him to Hollingsworth Corporation where he was promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer. His career gave him the opportunity for travel within the United States and around the world including Asia, Europe and Central America. He especially enjoyed living briefly in California and Florida.
Upon his retirement from Hollingsworth, Mr. Bornheim remained very active, especially with his involvement in the family business, Nantasket Beach Hardware, formerly Anastos Hardware. Mr. Bornheim enjoyed his home by the ocean and tending to his stylish and colorful flower gardens. He also enjoyed his hobby of creating wooden models of schooners, which he proudly displayed throughout his home. He held a passion for the beach and the ocean. After his retirement, Jim and his wife Teddy would spend winters in Florida on the beaches of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale by the Sea and Miami Shores.
Mr. Bornheim is survived by his loving wife Theodora Bornheim; his son Kurt Bornheim and his wife, Renee, his son Mark Bornheim and his wife Carolyn and their children Lauren, Jeffrey and Evan Sullivan, his son Eric Bornheim and his partner, Daniel Frazier, all of Hull; his sister Norma Connelly, his sister in law Anna Shaheen and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bornheim was predeceased by his brother George Bornheim and sister Helen Bornheim. All services will be private.
