Water-main repairs taking longer than expected
Repairs that began early this afternoon after a contractor hit a water main on Nantasket Avenue are taking longer than had been anticipated and may not be done until late tonight, according to a Facebook update posted by Aquarion Water Company. Here's the post from about 1 p.m. The company posted about an hour ago (6 p.m.) that repairs would probably take an additional 4 to 6 hours.
HULL MAIN BREAK
A contractor for the gas company working on Nantasket Ave in Hull accidentally hit a service line near 247 Nantasket Ave. The main will need to be shut while repairs are being made.
A "Code Red" has been issued to the affected residents and town officials have been notified. It is expected repairs will take 4-6 hours and water will be turned back on as soon as repairs are completed.
Those between 245-337 Nantasket Ave. will be without water during the shutdown.
Once water is restored, there is always an outside chance that some in the area may experience discoloration of water from the water flow disruption. We will be running hydrants to prevent any potential discoloration. If you experience discoloration, run cold water through your bathtub or an outside spigot until the water clears. This should take 10 minutes or less.
If your water is discolored, please delay doing laundry until your water has cleared.
If you continue to have discoloration or need further assistance, please contact Aquarion's Customer Service Department at 1-800-928-3734. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and we thank you for your patience.
